Chicago police in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood received a call regarding what appeared to be a scam in progress. The caller was concerned that two men were going door to door taking advantage of elderly residents in the neighborhood.
When the two men were unable to produce any documentation and didn’t know the name of their supervisor, they were arrested, according to a report from the Sun-Times Media Wire. Additional inquiries determined that what they were doing was indeed a scam, but their intentions were good and the wrong people were held responsible.
Call it poetic injustice.
The two men were volunteers for the Brighten Park Neighborhood Council and they were distributing registration information in a last-minute attempt to up the body count for Obamacare before the most recent, and possibly soon to be moved, deadline arrived. (Although when applied to Obamacare, a more accurate term would be mild-discomfort line.)
As anyone who has kept track of the broken website, broken promises, broken laws, and outright lies knows — Obamacare is a scam. A scam that’s so poorly planned and executed that it doesn’t even reach the level of organizational efficiency found in a Ponzi scheme.
But that doesn’t mean our hapless Windy City volunteers should pay the price. That dubious honor belongs to a former Chicago resident named Barack Obama and his HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
He is untouchable for a number of reasons, but Sebelius should have been fired long ago.
In fact, if Sebelius had run a company in the private sector that was built on the extensive misinformation, lies, and incompetence found in Obamacare, the FTC would have shut them down and the Justice Department could well have issued indictments. But since this is the federal government, the scam continues at our expense and that of the two Windy City volunteers.
As a result we have massive interference in the healthcare market, millions of people have lost health insurance they relied upon, others have lost access to doctors they’ve seen for years, prices for four out of five purchasers have gone up — in some cases dramatically — and the problem demographic Obamacare was designed to help, the uninsured, for the most part remains uninsured.
Our only hope for cleaning up this steaming pile is the election in November.
In the meantime, the two Chicago volunteers have my sympathy. Being arrested is a rude introduction to public service. My suggestion would be to find an organization that’s worthy of your time and dedication: The Salvation Army for instance. They can always use more bell-ringers.
