Trump: Ryan Budget 'Very Dangerous' for GOP

Friday, 23 Mar 2012 11:36 AM

In a major message split with the GOP, Real estate mogul Donald Trump says the budget proposed this week by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., was politically dangerous message for Republicans in a presidential election year.

Trump’s move is significant not only for its break with GOP rising star Ryan, but also because presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney, who Trump endorsed, has also endorsed Ryan’s plan, The Hill pointed out.

Last June, Trump also said Ryan's 2011 proposal was a "death wish" for Republicans.

"I’m looking at the Republicans and seeing things that are like they have a death wish," said Trump during an appearance on Fox News. "Whether its the Ryan plan, which is a death wish, for him to have brought this plan out at this time, why doesn’t allow Obama, you know these are not good business people or these are not good chess players, why doesn’t he allow Obama come out first, why does he have to come out with a plan?"

Trump said that Ryan's last plan was the reason for Rep. Kathy Hochul's, D-N.Y., upset win in a special election.

In a statement released earlier this week by his campaign, Romney praised Ryan "for taking a bold step toward putting our nation back on the track to fiscal sanity."

"As president, I look forward to working with Chairman Ryan and his House Republican colleagues to pass bold reforms that restore America's promise," Romney continued.
