The name Romney is being mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts, but it’s not the state’s former Gov. Mitt Romney.
Republicans are scrambling to find a candidate to run for the seat vacated by new Secretary of State John Kerry now that former Sen. Scott Brown has decided not to run, and some politicians are trying to persuade Mitt’s wife Ann or son Tagg to run.
“I’ve had several people call me and ask about Ann Romney,” longtime Romney aide Ron Kaufman told The Boston Herald.
Ann Romney’s performance on the Republican convention stage, and her brave battle against multiple sclerosis, have made her a popular national figure, the paper observed.
Tagg Romney was a close adviser in Mitt’s presidential campaign.
