Rep. Paul Ryan is helping fellow House Republicans with their fundraising efforts as they get ready for the 2014 midterm elections.

The Wisconsin Republican has 20 political events where he is scheduled to speak from now until the end of 2013, Politico reports.

As the former Republican vice presidential candidate and chairman of the House Budget Committee, Ryan is a highly sought-after speaker — and his popularity is a sign of growing political capital within the party.

"As the vice presidential nominee, Ryan met and shook hands with every big donor in the party," a Republican strategist close to Ryan told Politico. "That is immensely valuable when you go back to hit them up for money down the road."

Ryan is scheduled to help raise money for the National Republican Congressional Committee, incumbents, and candidates. He has also set up a "joint fundraising committee" with the NRCC in which he will split the money he raises with the fundraising arm for House Republicans.

Ryan has already given $150,000 to the NRCC this year from his own re-election committee and $15,000 from Prosperity Action, his leadership PAC.

By the end of May, Prosperity Action had given $92,500 to other incumbents and candidates in the GOP.

Other House Republicans see Ryan's fundraising efforts as a sign that he sees his political future on Capitol Hill as opposed to the national stage.

"House Republicans are thankful for Chairman Ryan's dedication to growing the House majority and his generous commitment to his colleagues and the NRCC," Andrea Bozek, a spokeswoman for the NRCC told Politico.

"As one of the biggest draws in politics, it's not surprising that Ryan's approval rating is rock solid with independents, conservatives, and our donor committee."
