Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says there’s no reason for him to make additional tax returns public, as Democrats have demanded and some Republicans have recommended.

The candidate has released his 2010 and 2011 returns but is resistant to providing more.

“We’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and how we live our life,” Ann Romney said on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Politico reports. “You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially.”

She cited the couple’s contributions to charity. “He’s a very generous person. We give 10 percent of our income to our church every year,” Romney said. “Do you think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it. Then, when he was governor of Massachusetts, didn’t take a salary for four years.”

The Mormon Church requires that followers donate 10 percent of their income. The Romneys gave a total of $4.1 million to the church in 2010-11. Their combined charitable contributions totaled $7 million during that period, exceeding their $6.2 million federal tax bill.

Ann Romney was amused by a Democratic ad featuring her dressage horse to show how Mitt Romney dances around the tax return issue. “It makes me laugh, it’s like, ‘Really?’” she said. “There are so many people out of work right now. And there’s this guy right here who has the answers for fixing the economy.”

The issue for voters in November will be whether they’re better off under President Barack Obama, Ann Romney said. “Basically, my philosophy is they’re gonna fire the coach.”
