Romney Grants Interviews For Two Upcoming Books

By Courtney Coren

Mitt Romney has allowed three authors to interview him for two forth coming books on the 2012 presidential election, two sources told Politico.

Dan Balz, who is writing "Collision 2012: Obama vs. Romney and the Future of Elections in America," and Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, co-authors of "Double Down: Game Change 2012," all interviewed the 2012 Republican nominee for president, the sources said.

Balz a chief correspondent for the Washington Post. His account of the 2012 presidential election is set to come out in August. He co-authored, "The Battle for America 2008: The Story of An Extraordinary Election," with the late Haynes Johnson following the 2008 presidential election.

The Halperin and Heilemann book is expected to be out in November, and is also a sequel to their book on the 2008 presidential election, "Game Change."

Politico notes that they are expected to analyze how Obama won even though certain tell tale signs such as a weak economy historically make re-election difficult for incumbent presidents, as well as why Romney wasn't able to close the deal, even though it seemed to be a winnable race.

Romney has granted very few interviews since the election in November 2012.

He and his wife, Ann, gave their first interview after the election in March to Fox News, in which the former Massachusetts governor said that he doesn't like to spend his "life looking back."

"You look back at the campaign and say, OK, what did the president do well? And you acknowledge that his campaign did a number of things very effectively," Romney said. "Of course, you rehearse all the mistakes that you made. And then you think about the things that were out of our control. But you move on."
