New Jersey voters aren't enthusiastic about a bid for the Senate by TV talk-show host Geraldo Rivera, according to a poll from Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press.

Rivera said last month that he's considering running as a Republican for the seat of Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who is up for re-election next year.

But just 26 percent of voters say they would be likely to pull the lever for Rivera, who appears on Fox News. A total of 9 percent say they would be very likely to vote for Rivera, while 17 percent would be somewhat likely.

Meanwhile, 65 percent of voters say they would be unlikely to support him, with 51 percent saying they wouldn't consider voting for him at all and 14 percent saying they're not too likely to vote for him.

Even among GOP voters, only 44 percent say they would be likely to vote for Rivera, while 48 percent say they would be unlikely to do so. Among independents 27 percent would likely vote for him and 63 percent would likely vote against him.

Of the 53 percent of New Jersey voters who have an opinion of Rivera, 26 percent have a favorable one and 27 percent an unfavorable one.
