Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Thursday endorsed Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli for governor next year.
Paul announced his support at the Liberty Political Action Conference 2012 in Fairfax, Va. Cuccinelli faces Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and White House party crasher Tareq Salahi for the GOP nomination.
“Ken has been a key leader nationally in the fight against unconstitutional overreaches of the federal government,” the Republican senator said. “He has been a true and consistent champion of liberty and, as Governor, will work to preserve and protect the principles our nation was founded on.
“Ken has a long and consistent track record of working to defend the Constitution,” Paul continued. “He was the first attorney general in the nation to file a lawsuit against ObamaCare. He has fought against illegal and unconstitutional actions taken by the Environmental Protection Agency and has changed the paradigm of how attorneys general fight to defend the Constitution nationwide.
“Ken is a proven leader, with a proven record of fighting every day for liberty,” Paul said.
