New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and city Public Advocate Bill de Blasio are tied for the lead in the Democratic mayoral primary with 24 percent support among Democratic voters, according to a new poll.

Former city Comptroller Bill Thompson ranked third with 18 percent, followed by former Rep. Anthony Weiner with 11 percent and current city Comptroller John Liu with 6 percent.

The poll of 679 Democratic voters conducted by Marist College for NBC 4 in New York and The Wall Street Journal was conducted Aug. 12-14 and has a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.

When it comes to favorability ratings, 54 percent of Democrats said they have a favorable opinion of Quinn, while 32 percent have an unfavorable opinion.

De Blasio's approval rating was even better. Fifty-nine percent of people surveyed said they have a favorable impression of him, while only 14 percent said they did not.

Thompson also fared a little better in that category than Quinn, with 56 percent saying they view him favorably compared to 18 percent who don't.

Weiner, who's campaign has been plagued by new disclosures about his sexting scandal, drew only a 26 percent favorable rating, while 63 percent of voters said they have unfavorable view of him.

The primary is scheduled for Sept. 10.
