Fifty-eight percent of American voters say it was "inappropriate" for President Donald Trump to share classified information with Russian officials, while 22 percent say he made the right decision, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll revealed.

Here are the survey's highlights:

  • 55 percent say they are "not too confident" or "not confident at all" in Trump's ability to handle highly classified national security information, while 39 percent say they are confident.
  • 50 percent do not believe Trump is able to serve as command in chief, while 40 percent say he is.
  • 54 percent do not believe he is trustworthy, compared to 32 percent who say he is.
  • 48 percent say Trump is not a strong leader, while 43 percent say he is.
  • 60 percent say the president is reckless, compared to 29 percent who disagree.
  • 53 percent say Trump is patriotic, while 34 percent say he is not.
  • 53 percent disapprove of the job he is doing as president, while 41 percent approve.

"Trump's approval rating, despite remaining fairly consistent in recent polling, reached its lowest mark for any Politico/Morning Consult poll since he entered office…" Politico's Cristiano Lima reported.

Here is how the rest of the poll breaks down:

  • 43 percent say it was inappropriate for Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey, while 34 percent say it was appropriate.
  • 45 percent say they have an unfavorable opinion of House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., while 34 percent had a favorable view of him.
  • 46 percent say they have an unfavorable opinion of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., while 31 percent had a favorable view of her.

The poll surveyed 1,970 registered voters between May 16 and 18 with a margin of error of plus or minus two percent.
