Former Vice President Joe Biden, with a favorability rating of 74 percent, is the clear favorite to capture the Democratic presidential nomination for 2020, a new Morning Consult poll reveals.

Here are the highlights from the survey, which polled Democratic voters on the favorability among possible Democratic White House contenders:

  • Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, comes in second with a 51 percent favorability rating.
  • Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota is third with 45 percent of those polled viewing him favorably.
  • Sens. Corey Booker of New Jersey and Tim Kaine of Virginia follow with each receiving a 37 percent favorability rating.
  • Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York came in next with 35 percent of those polled viewing him favorably.

Starbucks boss Howard Schultz, who is sometimes mentioned as a possible candidate, received a 21 percent favorability rating, and Disney CEO Bob Iger, whose name also is brought up as a possible presidential contender, was viewed favorably by 19 percent of those polled.

"The survey is an early one — there are more than two years until the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary and Iowa caucus — and in the Trump era, big shifts in the conventional political calculus that guides many politicians can happen at a moment's notice," noted Eli Yokley of the Morning Consult.

The survey polled 895 Democratic voters from June 8-12. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
