Republican Christine O’Donnell, who lost her Senate race against Democrat Chris Coons in 2010, is mulling another run against him in 2014.

Coons’ term lasts only four years because he won the seat of former Sen. Joe Biden, who was re-elected in 2008 before resigning to become vice president.

O’Donnell lost by a 57 to 40 percent tally, despite the backing of tea partyers and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. But the Delaware Republican is undaunted by the defeat.

“I think I owe that to my supporters, to at least consider a run,” O’Donnell told Delaware Online in an interview published Sunday. “People sacrificed. Not only came out of their comfort zone – sacrificed to work hard in order to win the primary. And I think that I owe it to them to give it every consideration,” she added.

O’Donnell endorsed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney earlier this year and said she would consider working in his administration if offered the opportunity.

“Who knows?” O’Donnell told New York magazine when asked about her political future. “I have to continue to help Gov. Romney in any way that I can. Whether or not I would actually work in the administration depends, again, on what role, on what capacity, and what else was going on in my own career at the time.”

O’Donnell’s 2010 campaign suffered from a clip showing her telling television talk show host Bill Maher that she had “dabbled” in witchcraft.
