The work to consolidate the huge gains Republicans made in last month’s mid-term elections begins now. So it’s good news for the GOP that the National Republican Congressional Committee already is getting its ducks in a row, promoting several staffers to top positions, The Hill reports.

NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions announced Tuesday that Mike Shields, who directed the committee's Independent Expenditure arm in 2010, will become the new political director. Paul Lindsay will take over Ken Spain's role as communications director. Spain departed for the private sector. Jenny Sheffield Drucker was promoted to finance director. Sessions says his staff's "institutional knowledge" will be extremely useful.

"Mike, Jenny and Paul worked tremendously hard to build a Republican majority, and their expertise will help to ensure that we earn continued success in 2012," Sessions says in a statement.
