Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted on Friday by a federal grand jury on 21 charges stemming from allegedly taking cash bribes and gifts from two city contractors.

The charges in the long-expected indictment include bribery, conspiracy to deprive citizens of honest services, money laundering, wire fraud, and filing false tax returns, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Nagin left office two and a half years ago and now lives in the Dallas area.

Two former contractors, Frank Fradella and Rodney Williams, have pleaded guilty to paying bribes to Nagin in exchange for promises of city work, the Times-Picayune reports.

Both are expected to testify should the case against the former mayor go to trial.

In court documents surrounding the case, Nagin was listed as “Public Official A,” the Times-Picayune reports.
