Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., seems happy to talk to a Republican to make a budget deal and even to talk to NBC News about talking to the Republican.
But Fox News, not so much.
Story continues below video.
Murray accepted an invitation for a joint appearance with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., on NBC's "Meet the Press"
on Sunday, but turned down an invite from "Fox News Sunday"
to do the same thing. Ryan appeared solo on Fox.
"Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace told viewers
that his program had invited Murray as well, but she declined. Both Sunday morning news programs focused on the bipartisan budget deal hammered out last week by Ryan and Murray which has been passed by the House and is expected to pass the Senate this week.
"Meet the Press" host David Gregory interviewed the two lawmakers on location in the room where they actually discussed the deal in what was clearly a pre-taped interview. Wallace interviewed Ryan in studio, though that interview also was recorded "earlier."
Murray's office did not indicate she skipped the conservative leaning network because of politics, telling Politico she declined
the Fox News interview because it conflicted with her voting schedule.
