Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn is mulling over a long-shot run for the GOP presidential nomination, an aide told RealClearPolitics.

Blackburn is scheduled to be a speaker at a New Hampshire Republican rally this weekend, which will also feature addresses by three other possible White House contenders, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

"If there’s a door to kick down, she’s willing to kick it down," said the Blackburn aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "These are the kinds of events you go to test the waters, and see what the reaction is."

Earlier this year, Blackburn told Newsmax’s "The Steve Malzberg Show" that there should be more women in Congress, "and we don't have enough conservative women on the national stage."

Blackburn, a die-hard conservative who was first elected to Congress in 2002, would shake up the 2016 race for the GOP presidential nomination by possibly becoming the first woman to throw her hat in the ring, according to the aide.

"There is kind of a void to fill there," the aide said. "Whenever there’s been a need for leadership or someone to get out there and fight the fight, she’s always been the first in line and she’s not afraid of it. She’s not afraid to go toe to toe with anybody."

In February, Blackburn let her conservative voice be heard when she took on Bill Nye "The Science Guy" in a debate on "Meet the Press" over climate change, in which she argued that greenhouse gas emissions are not blame for global warming.

If Blackburn does becomes the GOP nominee in 2016, she would likely run against Democrat Hillary Clinton to be the first female president of the United States.
