Manchin Defeats Raese in West Virginia Senate

In a significant blow to Republicans’ chances of gaining control of the Senate, Democrat Joe Manchin has defeated GOP rival John Raese in the key race in West Virginia, Fox News projects.

With 12 percent of the votes counted, Manchin — the state’s governor — has 54 percent and Raese has 44 percent.
