As liberal actress Ashley Judd makes noise about running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2014, the senator’s campaign staff is letting the Democrat know that she’ll have her work cut out for her if she decides to run.
In a poll of Kentucky voters about some of Judd’s statements, the McConnell camp found that McConnell’s lead increased to 20 percentage points from just 4 once people learn her views, according to a memo provided to Politico
“Considering the fact that Judd begins with such strong name ID, the informed voter swing is devastating for her, and the 16-point swing is one of the biggest I have seen in my career,” Jan van Lohuizen, McConnell’s pollster told Politico. “Given the ability to move the ballot so substantially by pointing out only a few of her positions, her candidacy does not appear viable.”
Poll respondents weren’t too pleased that Judd lives in Tennessee and Scotland, that her grandmother called her a “Hollywood liberal,” and that she opposes the idea of having many children, because of severe poverty around the world.
Once voters discover Judd’s left-wing opinions on coal, abortion, and Obamacare, she’s toast, McConnell staffers say.
Judd appeared at a Democratic Christmas party Tuesday night – in Tennessee. The soiree for the state Democrats’ finance council was held at the home of Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, The Tennessean reports.
