Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Sunday he will continue his attacks on GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, though he doesn't believe Trump will be the party's nominee.

In an appearance on "Meet the Press," Bush said he didn't get a chance to go after Trump at Thursday's debate on all the issues he would have liked to, but said he will try to do so in the next debate.

"We talked about the 45 percent tariff he has been advocating that would create a global depression and lay people off and create hardship," Bush said. "He's not a conservative, and should the opportunity come up in the next debate to talk about bankruptcies, I'll do it. Four times he went bankrupt and he claims he was just using the law, but a lot of people got wiped out because of that."

Trump also is opposed to conservatives on the issue of eminent domain, Bush said. "Conservatives believe we should use it for public use, not private purpose," he said.

Host Chuck Todd noted, however, that an outside group has been hammering Trump on those very issues in Iowa, yet none of it seems to stick.

Bush said people are drawn to Trump because of anxiety in their lives.

"I saw a survey that 63 percent of people can't afford a car repair of 500 bucks, and more than half of Americans have less than a thousand dollars in savings," he said. "And the big guy comes in and offers the moon and the stars, and people are latched on to that. But the reality is he's not offering anything to lift people up."

Bush hedged on whether he would support Trump if he is the nominee, saying he still doesn't believe the New York real estate developer will finish on top.

But, he added, "the prospect of Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders to be the president of the United States is chilling to me. I'm going to win the nomination, that's my focus, that's what I'm trying to do but anybody would be better than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders."
