Former 2012 presidential contender Jon Huntsman is forming a new Utah-based political action committee to support fellow Republican candidates across the country while he decides his own plans for the future.

Huntsman will use his new Red Rock PAC to speak, travel, appear at fundraising events, and meet like-minded Republicans, reports Politico.

"It's way early," he told the publication about deciding whether to seek the presidency again in 2016. "For this year and next year, it will be more about talking about the issues that really matter, presenting them to people who are interested in hearing about them and kind of seeing where they go."

But he added, "If [the issues] hit a wall, then you don’t have a future. If they resonate with people, then naturally, you'll be talked about. If you are to rise politically, it's based upon real ideas, policies, and solutions that connect with our time in history -- or you don't go anywhere at all."

Huntsman told Politico he wants to back Republicans willing to work with Democrats to address key issues of the day.

"Major problems are going unaddressed and unresolved in politics," he said, pointing to the hard partisan lines that keep lawmakers from working together.

Mark McIntosh, a former 2012 Huntsman campaign staffer, will reportedly serve as executive director of the Red Rock PAC, while Steven Bogden, also a 2012 veteran, will be its policy director.

Huntsman's state-based PAC will be able to raise unlimited funds from corporations and individuals, but will have to disclose those contributions under Utah law. His committee will also be prohibited from making direct expenditures or contributions to candidates.
