Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who ran for president in 2008, is thinking of trying again in 2016.

"Am I informally chatting with people, asking if they think there’s any value in my taking it to another level. I’m having those conversations," he told Politico. "I haven’t ruled it out."

Huckabee said he's trying to figure out who else might be in the race three years from now.

"At this point, I’m trying to ascertain, what’s the opportunity, what’s the field, where the names are," he said. Once that's sorted out, running, he added, "may not be a possibility."

Huckabee won eight primary states, including the Iowa caucuses, in 2008 running as a Republican. Today, he is the host of his own television talk show on Fox News and a nationally-syndicated radio show which is simulcast on Newsmax TV.

Asked if he has a deadline for making a decision, he indicated that it might be much later than sooner. The campaign process, he said, is just "so long."

"People who get in too early are the ones who, by the time they need to be peaking, already peaked," he said.

"My concern is we have definitely lost our voice to blue-collar, middle-class workers," he said. "It’s something I’m very, very concerned about."
