Sen. Lindsey Graham says he won't support his own immigration bill if an amendment is tacked on giving same-sex couples the right to green cards, The Huffington Post reports.

"If the Judiciary Committee tries to redefine marriage in the immigration bill they will lose me and many others," Graham tweeted Monday afternoon.

Graham, R-S.C., is a member of the bipartisan Gang of 8 who crafted the bill. But a fellow member of the gang, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., added amendments that would give Americans with foreign same-sex partners the right to help them obtain work visas.

Graham and other Republicans have long said adding gay rights to the bill would doom it. Leahy has said he believes the bill can pass with his amendments.

The White House says President Barack Obama will sign the bill if it doesn't include same-sex rights, though he prefers they be included.

Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., also Gang of 8 members, also have said the bill will have said the bill will die with the same-sex amendments attached.

"If that issue is injected into this bill, this bill will fail," Rubio told radio host Hugh Hewitt in April. "It will not have the support. It will not have my support."
