Ninety year-old television legend Bob Barker has filmed an advertisement to be broadcast Thursday announcing his support of former Capitol Hill staffer David Jolly in the Jan. 14 Republican primary against state Rep. Kathleen Peters, Roll Call reported.

Barker famously hosted "The Price is Right" game show from 1972 to 2007. The political spot will run in conjunction with Barker's special appearance on the show marking his 90th birthday.

In the ad, Barker explains that he is supporting him "Because with Jolly, the choice is right."

He and Jolly have known each other over the years having worked together on various causes including Barker's strong backing of U.S. war veterans, according to Roll Call.

Support from Barker may come in handy in the district in which 20 percent of the population is of retirement age, and also the prime audience of the daytime game show, Roll Call noted.

The winner will run in a special election on March 11 against Democrat Alex Sink, to fill the 13th District seat vacated by Rep. Bill Young who died in October. Young had been the longest-serving Republican in the House.

Jolly had been Young's general counsel and personal attorney.
