A mailer from an environmental group is criticizing Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts for voting to allow tax breaks to continue for the oil industry, The Hill reported.

The League of Conservation Voters is launching a $200,000 direct mail campaign attempting to the Republican incumbent to Big Oil, The Hill reported. The group wants Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren to take over the Senate seat.

The group is spending over $1 million in total on the Massachusetts race. It has also backed Democrats in other key races around the country such as, Rep. Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, and Sen. Jon Tester of Montana, according to The Hill.

Brown and Warren are set to debate on Wednesday in Springfield amid polls that still show a close race.

Warren raised the oil subsidy vote in a debate. Brown said that the Democratic bill would have increased already high gas prices at the pump.

He added that singling out of one subsidy doesn't paint an accurate picture of how many energy subsidies are on the federal government's books, according to MassLive.com.
