The John Kasich campaign is kidding itself if it really believes a win in the governor's state of Ohio can turn his presidential campaign around and actually give him a chance to win, GOP campaign consultant Ed Rollins said.
Rollins was responding to a report that Kasich's chief strategist John Weaver put out a memo arguing an Ohio win would come just at a time when the electoral map will move to Kasich's favor.
"John Weaver's a great strategist and a great talent and a friend of mine," Rollins said during Fox News Channel election night coverage. "That's wishful thinking."
Front-runner Donald Trump will do well in New York and possibly New Jersey, Rollins said.
"It's also about money," he said. "John Kasich right now doesn't have a lot of money, and he's going to have to spend a lot of money to win Ohio. … If all of a sudden there's a big pot of money sitting out there, I haven't seen any indication of it yet."
