Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for Congress in the new 6th Congressional District of Florida, has been endorsed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

"Ron DeSantis is a conservative reformer who is willing to take on leaders of both parties to tackle our nation’s daunting fiscal challenges. Ron understands that excessive spending and government regulation will not foster economic growth and will hinder American’s opportunity to pursue their dreams. As a Navy reserve officer and Iraq veteran, Ron has a demonstrated record of service to our country that will help make him a leader in the U.S. House. I urge voters in Florida's 6th congressional district to send Ron DeSantis to Congress."

DeSantis said that Jeb Bush is "one of the best governors the State of Florida has ever had."

"He is a fountain of ideas and a conservative reformer who has always been willing to expend his political capital to achieve positive results for Florida. Jeb Bush is the foremost authority on education reform in the Republican Party, and I will look to reform the ballooning costs of our higher education system along the lines that he has advocated. I am very grateful to Jeb Bush for his support of my candidacy."

A native Floridian, DeSantis worked his way through Yale University and Harvard Law School and then elected to serve his country as an officer in the United States Navy. DeSantis deployed to Iraq during the 2007 troop surge as an adviser to a Navy SEAL commander in support of the SEAL counterinsurgency mission, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service.

DeSantis lives in Ponte Vedra Beach in St. Johns County with his wife Casey Black DeSantis, an Emmy award-winning television host.
