General Motors Vice Chairman and longtime auto industry executive Bob Lutz is retiring.
Lutz, 78, who has led a near-complete overhaul of GM's lineup and is credited with leading Chrysler to great success in the 1990s, confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press that he will step down.
GM representatives were not immediately able to comment.
