Many people are pushing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to make a quick decision about entering the 2016 presidential race, but her daughter Chelsea isn't one of them.

"I am very strongly exercising my prerogative as a daughter to make sure my mom has this year to rest and reflect," Chelsea Clinton told an audience Thursday at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington, D.C., The Hill reported.

Story continues below video.

Polls show that Hillary Clinton would likely be the instant favorite for the Democratic nomination, but her daughter and husband, former President Bill Clinton, are offering no hints about when or if she will answer the call from many in the party to enter the race. Chelsea Clinton said her mother would "make the right choice" no matter what it is.

Now 33, Chelsea Clinton was asked if she would consider running for office herself one day, possibly even the presidency, which her father has suggested.

"I don't know, is the honest answer," she replied. "People have been asking that question for as long as I can remember."

Most of her 20-minute talk was focused on issues unrelated to her mother's political ambitions. Instead she talked about the humanitarian work of the Clinton Foundation and her own increasing involvement in international health projects and speaking out for gay rights.
