George P. Bush — the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — has raised $1.3 million in less than two months as he prepares for his first political run next year — the contest for Texas land commissioner.
The Dallas Morning News reports that Bush’s impressive war chest was helped “with a financial boost from the family and the Bush political network."
Among the 36-year-old Bush’s top contributors were his father and his uncle, former President George W. Bush, each kicking in $50,000, according to the newspaper.

The younger Bush’s grandfather, uncles, cousins, and family friends also contributed.
While Bush hopes to run for land commissioner, he hasn’t ruled out throwing his hat in the ring for attorney general’s seat or governor’s office.
“His robust showing from a frenzied two months of fundraising indicates that the Bush network is alive and ready to help bankroll the next generation of the nation’s best-known Republican political family,’’ the News said.
“The figures also can be used strategically to scare off potential challenge.’’
George P. Bush, a lawyer and U.S. Navy Reserve Officer, heads a real estate private equity firm in Dallas.
He was famously named one of People Magazine’s Top 100 Bachelors in 2000.
His first entry into the political spotlight came in 1988, when at the age of 12, he spoke before the Republican National Convention, which nominated his grandfather.
