Former President Bill Clinton will attend a Democratic fundraiser in Michigan on Friday for U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

The private event will be held in Royal Oak, just outside the Motor City, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Cullen Schwarz, a Stabenow spokesman, told the Free Press that fundraiser would “support get-out-the-vote and voter protection efforts across the state.”

Stabenow is locked in a heated race with former Republican congressman Pete Hoekstra. She is seeking her third term in a state that went red in 2010. Michigan is normally considered a blue state.

As of mid-September, Stabenow has raised some $12 million, versus Hoekstra’s $3.5 million
