Tom DeLay to Have a Platform at Washington Times

By Jason Devaney   |   Tuesday, 04 Mar 2014 08:46 PM

Tom DeLay is returning to Washington.

The Texas Republican and former U.S. House majority leader is joining the Washington Times as a columnist and radio commentator.

His 30-minute radio program with Andy Parks, a Washington media personality, will be available to listeners via an on-demand radio network once a week. Based on what the pair discuss, DeLay will write a weekly column for the Times.

"I’m very excited about having a platform for a dialogue with the American people," DeLay told the Times. "The Washington Times was always my favorite newspaper in Washington. It was the first thing I read in the morning. Being part of The Washington Times is a big honor for me."

DeLay served in the House from 1985 until he resigned in 2006 after being indicted on charges of violating election laws a year earlier. He was eventually sentenced to three years in prison, but the ruling was overturned in 2013 and he was formally acquitted.

DeLay was the House majority leader from 2003 to 2005.
