Consultant: Bob Kerrey Reconsidering US Senate Run

Monday, 27 Feb 2012 03:01 PM

Former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska is reconsidering his decision not to run for Nebraska's open U.S. Senate seat this year.

Paul Johnson, who once served as Kerrey's campaign manager, said Monday that Kerrey told him he again is considering running for outgoing Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson's seat.

Kerrey has not yet made up his mind and reports that he had decided to run are false. Kerrey could announce a decision as soon as Wednesday, Johnson said.

Kerrey announced this month that he would not run for the Senate seat after weeks of speculation. It was not immediately known why Kerrey was reconsidering that decision.

Kerry, a former Nebraska governor, also was a 1992 presidential candidate.
