Palin: Bus Tour Is About the People, Not Me

Some pundits have speculated that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has launched her countrywide bus tour simply to spark support for a presidential run or to further her television career. Palin’s response: not true, The Hill reports.

I've said from the beginning this isn't a campaign tour, except to campaign on our Constitution," she told Fox News. "It's not about me. It's not a publicity-seeking tour; it's about highlighting the great things about America."

It remains unclear whether Palin will indeed run for president. Her "One Nation" tour began in Washington, D.C., and took her Tuesday to the key civil war battleground of Gettysburg, Pa., and to Philadelphia.

As for the presidential campaign, Palin said in Philadelphia, “I think most of the candidates who are lining up have a good chance of beating President [Barack] Obama because people are very anxious about the economy,” according to Politico.

She offered a few of her policy views Tuesday. “I think all of our energy subsidies need to be re-looked at and eliminated,” Palin said. “The bottom line, we can’t afford it.”

Addressing the Afghanistan war, she said, “The conditions on the ground need to dictate when we come home. We can’t have a political decision on a deadline. We can’t show the enemy our playbook.” Obama has said he plans to start withdrawing troops from that war in July.
