Republicans will have another strong candidate to challenge an incumbent Democratic senator next year — this time in Montana. Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg will run against Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, The Hill reports.

Rehberg will officially enter the race this weekend, a Republican source tells The Hill. Roll call first reported his entry into the race was on Monday.

Rehberg is in his sixth term as the state's at-large congressman. He has a strong statewide profile and the capacity to raise a lot of money. This will be Rehberg’s second Senate race. He ran unsuccessfully against Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., in 1996, before he was elected to the House.

The most recent campaign filings show Tester with a slight cash advantage at the start of the year — $562,000 cash on hand to $553,000 for Rehberg.
