Carl P. Paladino, the Republican nominee for governor of New York, is trying to soften his image and tout his government-frugal platform to counteract a “man of anger” image, according to The New York Times. He posted a video saying the race is about jobs and economic growth."We’ve left that gutter politics," Paladino told Today show host Matt Lauer. "We’re interested in talking about the issues."

Paladino recently received national publicity for his altercation with a New York Post reporter. Paladino is now trying to show, that while he may be passionate about causes, he has the temperament to be governor.

“I reflect the frustration of the people and I will continue to reflect that," he said, adding, “In my own kind and gentle way.”
