President Barack Obama likes government "supersized," Sen. John Barrasso said Tuesday after the release of the White House's 2015 budget proposal.

"This president likes his government supersized. This budget will never balance. And I think the president just wants taxpayers to pay more so that Washington can spend more," the Wyoming Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

The president's budget calls for increased spending for infrastructure projects and education, while reducing tax breaks for wealthy Americans, Reuters reported.

Barrasso said he thought President Barack Obama was missing a "great opportunity to deal with the critical issues of our country."

"Our debt, our deficit, entitlement reform. I think he's missing out on all of those things," Barrasso said.

There was little hope for approval of the president's budget in Congress, Barrasso predicted. He explained that Obama's previous budgets hadn't "garnered many votes on Capitol Hill."

The debt was the driving issue for the country, Barrasso maintained. He feared programs would eventually suffer "with this kind of debt and this kind of interest" that the nation shoulders.

Republican ideas shift budget priorities to jobs and policies that would help get Americans back to work, Barrasso explained. He indicated changes in Obamacare and new policies on energy, taxes, and regulations would enable lawmakers to "get our economy moving."
