In an interview broadcast Sunday, James Carville, longtime Democratic consultant and former adviser to Bill Clinton, said he believes Hillary Clinton will run for president again in 2016.

Appearing on New York's 970 AM "The Answer," Carville told host John Catsimatidis, "Yeah, I think she is going to run. Nobody's told me, let me be very clear. But usually when someone has run before, they tend to run again."

Carville added that "if she doesn't run, it would be a huge deal" and also qualified his assertion that she would be a 2016 candidate saying that he might simply be "projecting" his own preferences.

In a July Quinnipiac University poll, the former secretary of state held an overwhelming advantage over other candidates in the race for the 2016 Democratic nomination.

The survey found Clinton leading with 58 percent, followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts with 11 percent. Vice President Joseph Biden comes in third with 9 percent of the vote.

Asked by host Catsimatidis, a former businessman and New York City mayoral candidate, about a possible challenge from the left wing of the Democratic Party, Carville argued talk of a potential challenge from the left is a story the media will continue "to stir up," but said it is not based in reality.

"There is no evidence that the party is looking for anything different," said Carville. "You look at Democrats across the board, they are very happy with Hillary. Certainly, the Democratic voter is very happy and content for her to be our party's nominee."

Carville also dismissed assertions made in "Blood Feud," the latest book by author Ed Klein, that the relationship between President Barack Obama and the Clintons is uncomfortable and rife with animosity. Carville said Klein "is a man who is not taken seriously by literally anyone, not even the right wing."

"This guy claims Bill Clinton raped Hillary Clinton and that is how Chelsea is born," Carville added.

According to The New York Times, Klein's book replaced Clinton's "Hard Choices" at the top of the New York Times best-seller list in early July.

Clinton was asked in a recent interview whether any factor would make her not run in 2016.

Speaking with PBS' Charlie Rose, Clinton said the reason for not running would be "wholly personal," noting her daughter, Chelsea, is due to give birth soon to her first grandchild.

"I like my life right now. I like having the opportunity to do what I am interested in, to pursue issues that are very important to me, like foreign policy," she told Rose on his July 16 show.

"I have no illusions about how hard campaigning is, but the campaigning, as hard as it is, it is the easy part," Clinton said.
