U.S. Representative Jeb Hensarling of Texas has been recommended by House Republicans to serve as chairman of the chamber’s Financial Services Committee.

The selection of Hensarling, 55, was announced by House Speaker John Boehner today in a statement on the Republican Steering Committee’s selections for chairmanships in the 113th Congress, which convenes in January.

Hensarling, who wasn’t opposed for the Financial Services position, is expected win approval when the full House Republican Conference votes on the selections tomorrow.

Representative Spencer Bachus, the Alabama Republican now leading the Financial Services Committee, is term-limited from continuing as chairman. Representative Maxine Waters of California, is expected to be selected by Democrats to serve as their ranking member this week, succeeding Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, who is retiring.
