Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has thrown his financial backing behind pro-gun supporter Alison Lundergan Grimes in the race against Kentucky GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell.

Even though he’s now an anti-gun activist, Weinstein donated $2,600 to Grimes last month for her general election campaign, and in February he donated $2,600 for her primary campaign, according to FEC records obtained by Breitbart.com.

In recent months, Grimes has been attempting to identify herself as a pro-gun candidate, informing people in Kentucky that she’s a member of the National Rifle Association.
She even posted a picture of herself in a Twitter message holding a rifle and offering to go shooting at the range with McConnell.

However, Weinstein recently announced that he’s planning to film an anti-NRA movie starring Meryl Steep, while also vowing that the group’s members were "going to wish they weren’t alive when I’m done with them."

He added, "I don't think we need guns in this country. And I hate it. The NRA is a disaster area."

He also pledged that he would not make any more movies "glamorizing guns," which shocked people in Hollywood, given that many of his past films include gun violence, such as box office hits "Pulp Fiction," "Django Unchained," "Kill Bill," and "Rambo."

According to Breitbart, Weinstein was one of President Barack Obama’s top campaign bundlers and usually gives the maximum donations to the Democratic Party.

Last year, Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks, emailed his Hollywood friends asking for donations for Grimes in "a pivotal election that can get the Senate working again," and raised about $1 million.
