The attacks on former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for his role with investment firm Bain Capital has cost Texas Gov. Rick Perry a key supporter. Investment fund president Barry Wynn has jumped from  Perry's ship to Romney’s, The Washington Post’s blog Election 2012 reports.

Wynn, who has been an informal member of Perry's finance team, told the Post that while he likes Perry, his tough remarks such as calling Romney a “vulture capitalist,” was “something that kind of moved me over the top, if you will.”

“I really don’t think you can be on both sides of free-market capitalism,” he told the Post. “If you attack Bain, it’s just too broad a brush to paint with. ... There’s another party that’s going to be attacking free-market capitalism this year, and we don’t need to be having challenges to that from within the party.”

Wynn said he expects to take a role in fundraising for Romney and in other aspects of the campaign. The move may give pause to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has been leading the charge against Romney and his tenure at Bain, the Post reported.
