Incumbent U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold stands on shaky ground trying to hold his seat this fall, and Ed Gillespie is among folks who think Republican Ron Johnson can shake things up enough to oust the Wisconsin Democrat. Also on the GOP primary ticket Tuesday are Steven Finn and Dave Westlake.

Gillespie, a GOP strategist and former head of the Republican National Committee, not only says Johnson has the momentum in the run-up to the primary but also notes the frailty of Feingold’s hold on a seat that Democrats had taken for granted. What’s more, Gillespie says, the contest is one of several in which Republicans are poised to advance toward taking over the Senate.
