Democrats Lead GOP in Campaign Financing

For all of Democrats’ complaints about the nefarious influence of big money in Republican election campaigns, their own party holds the fund raising advantage at this point. At least, that is, when it comes to the three national party groups assisting campaigns, Politico reports.

The Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee generated a combined $105 million this year through July, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. That’s 19 percent below the $129 million raised by the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The money numbers have some Republicans worried, even though the GOP looks poised to challenge President Barack Obama seriously, increase its House majority, and retake control of the Senate next year.
