Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., has the reputation of a true blue conservative. And he’s earned that, according to a legislative scorecard that the conservative group Heritage Action released Thursday.

It graded all members of Congress according to their action on 30 votes and five co-sponsorships in the House and 19 votes and four co-sponsorships in the Senate.

DeMint topped the chart with a 99 percent rating. The only action keeping him from a perfect rating was that he failed to co-sponsor a bill to privatize the mortgage agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Rounding out the top five are Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, with 98 percent; Rep. Jeffrey Duncan, R-S.C., with 97 percent; and Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., tied for fourth at 96 percent.
