The Democratic National Committee slammed the GOP’s "cynical" voter strategy while launching a nationwide voter expansion project, according to the Tampa Bay Times
The DNC hired lawyer Zach Learner, who worked on voter protection efforts in both of President Barack Obama’s campaigns, to help lead the project aimed at helping candidates in key states, including Florida.
Learner, a University of Miami law school graduate, recently worked as chief of staff for Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs in Florida and previously for three years as a legislative aide to Florida state Sen. Eleanor Sobel.
The DNC said the project is hoping to gain greater access to voters and to protect the vote by "breaking down barriers, demystifying the process and making sure every vote counts."
The committee also denounced Republicans, saying they have adopted a "cynical national strategy to decrease participation."
A Democratic website, iwillvote.com
, features information on state-by-state voter registration, though its Florida page only provides details for the Nov. 4 election and not the statewide primary election on Aug. 26, the Times said.
