The final House seat from the November 6 election has been decided more than three weeks after the last vote was counted.

Democrat incumbent Mike McIntyre won the squeaker in North Carolina after GOP candidate David Rouzer conceded late Wednesday.

After a three-day recount McIntyre’s lead of 655 dropped by just one vote to 654, The Hill reported. The result means that Democrats picked up eight seats in the election.

Two House seats remain undecided, One is in Louisiana where two Republicans will compete in a December run-off, while the Illinois seat from which Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned after his election will remain unfilled when the 113th Congress convenes in January.

“Now that the recount has been completed and the tally of votes is official, we can move forward satisfied that each vote was counted properly and accurately,” Rouzer said in a statement.

“I have called Congressman McIntyre to congratulate him on a hard-fought victory, and I wish him well as he joins a new Congress that will be dealing with very difficult issues facing our country.”

Rouzer hinted that he might take a second shot at the 7th District seat which covers the south east corner of the Tar Heel State “To all of those who have encouraged me to run again in 2014, your sincerity means a lot,” he said.
