Speculation that Gov. Andrew Cuomo will make a run for the White House has intensified with the announcement that a major biography of the New York Democrat is being given a new title – "The Contender."

When the work, by Vanity Fair contributing editor Michael Schnayerson, was announced more than two years ago, it was entitled "The Son Also Rises: The First Biography of Andrew Cuomo" and was slated for a November 2014 launch.

Schnayerson’s publisher, the Hachette Book Group, also is pushing back the publication date to February 2015.

New York Post media columnist Keith Kelly wrote, "Perhaps the author will get lucky and the book will hit just as talk picks up about whether Cuomo will make a run for the White House."

Grand Central, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, said in its original blurb for the book that it "will offer an exhaustive, detailed look at the New York State governor’s life, from his early days running his father Mario’s first gubernatorial election campaign in 1982 to the present."

The publisher says that under its revised plans, there will be a 50,000-copy first printing in hardcover.

The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Cuomo’s is working on his own memoirs. Scheduled for release in August by HarperCollins, his book is entitled, "All Things Possible: Setbacks and Success in Politics and Life."

Income tax documents disclosed by the governor on Tuesday show he received $188,000 from HarperCollins in 2013. Authors typically receive their advance money in at least three installments: when they sign the deal, when they turn in a completed manuscript and upon publication, according to the Post. It has been speculated Cuomo received "a mid-six figure deal," the Post said.

The Journal, owned by News Corp., the same parent company as HarperCollins and the New York Post, said the Cuomo book will focus on his political efforts such as same-sex marriage legalization and gun control, as well as "elements of his private life."
