Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson will back presidential nominee Mitt Romney and support his campaign with a $1 million donation to the Romney-affiliated “Restore Our Future” super PAC.

Adelson, who owns the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, financed Newt Gingrich’s presidential ambitions. He met with Romney at the resort over lunch last week ahead of a fundraiser there.

CNN reports “the two men got along very well during the meeting, which lasted more than an hour.”

Adelson and his family gave more than $15 million during primary season to support Gingrich’s presidential bid. Adelson, whose politics are shaped in large part by his support for Israel, has a deep-set interest in defeating President Obamaand has said he is willing to play a more prominent role in Republican Party and conservative causes.
