Henry Kissinger will headline an event for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney next month in Connecticut, Politico reported.

The former secretary of state to President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford will appear with Romney and Romney’s brother at the event, which will be at the Trump Tower in Stamford on July 12, according to Politico.

A recent report in The New York Times claimed that Kissinger was waiting on the sidelines out of concern about Romney’s China policies. Kissinger, according to the Times, endorsed Sen. John McCain in the 2008 race a year and a half before the general election.

According to the Times, Kissinger had concerns about Romney’s aggressive statements on trade policy toward China. Kissinger, when serving under Nixon, helped reopen relations with China and has had clients with interests there.
