Washington Examiner's Ferrechio: Shutdown Could End With Two-Pronged Deal

Thursday, 03 Oct 2013 04:45 PM

By Bill Hoffmann

Susan Ferrechio, chief congressional correspondent for the Washington Examiner, believes a two-pronged deal may be cobbled together by Republicans and Democrats to end the government shutdown.

"I see this happening in the form of a big deal that combines the short-term government funding and long-term government funding, where we fund the government for 2014 and we combine that with a deal to raise the borrowing limit," Ferrechio told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Story continues below video.

Ferrechio says the dueling between lawmakers is like "a football game . . . They're looking for a pass to victory here, a pass through the crowd without getting tackled. That combined effort will give everybody a little bit [of] what they want and that's how you ease these deals over."
