NBC reporter Christin Cooper purposely caused Olympic skier Bode Miller to break down on camera about his brother's death, sportscaster Jared Max says.

"What killed me the most was that at the end, when he finally broke down and couldn't pull back, she reaches in, grabs his arm to comfort, to console him, and says, 'I'm sorry,''' Max told Joe Concha, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"And I thought, no, you're not! You pulled the trigger!"

Story continues below video.

In an interview after Miller’s bronze-medal win in the Super-G run on Sunday, Cooper hammered away at how he felt about his brother, Chelone, who died of a seizure last April. Miller broke down in tears during the grilling.

Max, a former host on ESPN Radio in New York, said there was a "certain cheapness" to Cooper's interview.

"When you watch the clip, she first asks him . . . 'Bode, you're emotional here, what's going on there?''' Max says.

And . . . actually, you see it in his eyes. He processes the question and he shoots her a sneer as if to say, did you seriously just ask me that question?"
